Venue: Arab Travel Market Exhibition
Location: World Trade Center - Dubai
Date: 6 to 9 May 2008
As part of Abu Dhabi stand, together with Abu Dhabi Airport Company, SCADIA presented for the first time the latest design concept for the Midfield Terminal Complex. The new terminal complex is the centre-piece of a US $6.8 billion expansion program which aims to transform the airport into a modern gateway to the Capital of the UAE, Abu Dhabi.
The expansion of Abu Dhabi International Airport is an integral part of the overall vision for the future of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and in particular the United Arab Emirates national carrier, Etihad Airways. The expansion program facilitates the targets set for establishment of Abu Dhabi as a major tourist destination, as well as bolstering the rapid expansion of aviation and associated industries.
The model of the Air Traffic Control Complex (ATCC) was also presented at the ATM. The architecture of the 110m-high Air Traffic Control Tower is derived not only from a combined analysis of technical and functional requirements, but also from the geography, culture and history of the Emirate. The new ATCC is under construction and is scheduled for completion in 2009.
Dr. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saif Al Nahyan, Chairman of Etihad, amongst other local and regional VVIP’s visited the stand which received a strong showing by large number of visitors throughout the event.
