H.E. Khalifa Al Mazrouei, Chairman of ADAC and SCADIA, officiated the opening of the second runway at Abu Dhabi International Airport (ADIA) on 12 October 2008.

The new 4.1 kilometer runway, associated taxiways and fire stations were completed at a cost of Dh 1 billion and are part of a major expansion and redevelopment plan at ADIA with a total cost of US$6.8 billion.
