AIR TRAFIC CONTROL COMPLEX

The new Air Traffic Control Complex (ATCC) has been designed with two main objectives:

•   Offer the most advanced technology for Air Traffic Control (ATC) operations.
•   Create an architectural landmark for Abu Dhabi International Airport.

The Architectural concept is derived not only from a combined analysis of technical and functional requirements, but also from the geography, culture and history of the Emirate.

The ATCC consists of a single building, gathering interlinked ATC activities:

•    The Aerodrome and Ground Control in the Visual Control Room, at the top of the Tower
•    The Arrival and Departure Control in the Approach Room.
•    Meteorological Forecast.

The 110m high Air Traffic Control Complex houses top level ATC equipment technology and offers an efficient, safe and professional operational environment to Air Traffic Control, Meteorological and Engineering staff. Physical works at the building are near completion.
