SCADIA is engaged in a major expansion program estimated at 6.8 Billion Dollars, transforming the existing facilities at Abu Dhabi International Airport (AUH).

The centrepiece of the development is a new world-class terminal building situated between the existing and a new runway opened on 12 October 2008. The new terminal complex will increase the capacity of AUH to more than 40 million passengers per annum on its final phase of completion. The expansion plans are being developed under the leadership of the SCADIA Chairman, H.E. Khalifa Al Mazrouei who is also the Managing Director and Chairman of Abu Dhabi Airport Company (ADAC). ADAC, the owner and operator of Abi Dhabi and Al Ain International Airports is a public joint stock company incorporated by Emiri Decree No. 5 2006 to spearhead the development of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi aviation industry.

SCADIA is also undertaking numerous other projects to expand the cargo and support facilities as well as creating significant new infrastructure and facilities for a major Free Trade Zone.

The expansion of Abu Dhabi International Airport is an integral part of the overall vision for the future of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and in particular the United Arab Emirates national carrier, Etihad Airways. The expansion program facilitates the targets set for establishment of Abu Dhabi as a major tourist destination as well as bolstering the rapid expansion of aviation and associated industries.
